“The training staff immediately noticed the situation and conducted cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He was brought to the nearest hospital for further medical assistance but was declared dead by the attending physician at around 9 p.m.,” pahayag ng PCG.
Idineklara na nasawi ang lalaki dahil sa hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy secondary to a submersion injury and subsequent arrest.
“All WASAR courses are hereby suspended immediately pending the conduct of review of safety procedures by the Coast Guard Special Operations Force and cognizant units,” pahayag ni hepe ng PCG na si Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan.
“The goal is to improve these protocols to ensure that individuals undergoing training to become first responders can effectively serve the Philippines while placing a high priority on sea safety and saving lives,” pahayag niya.
