Inakusahan ni dating Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. ang kanyang bilas na umano’y nagkalat ng “chismis” na siya’t pina-deport ng Canadian government kamakailan.
Si PNP Deputy Chief for Administration Police Lieutenant General Rodel Sermonia ay bilas ni Azurin dahil ang kanilang mga misis ay magkapatid.
“Sermonia had been spreading lies about my alleged ‘deportation.’ Maybe he knows something that everyone in our country do not know. Maybe, it was him who tipped the Canadian Immigration by concocting half truths and many lies and had been hoping that I will be deported. He had been sending messages about my deportation,” sabi ni Azurin.
Sa ginanap na deliberasyon sa budget ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) kamakalawa ay inihayag ng budget sponsor nito na si Nueva Ecija Rep. Joseph Violago na nagkaroon talaga ng problema si Azurin nang magtungo sa Canada kamakailan.
Humingi na aniya ng paumanhin ang Canadian government para sa “misunderstanding and miscommunication.”
“This incident occurred a few days ago. General Azurin voluntarily went to Canada, but suddenly returned to the country,” aniya.
“It seems there was a misunderstanding and misinterpretation of what happened, and the Canadian government expressed their regrets for the miscommunication,” dagdag niya.
Napaulat kamakalawa na isinailalim sa interogasyon si Azurin ng Canadian immigration authorities paglapag pa lamang sa bansa kaugnay sa drug war na isinulong ng administrasyong Duterte bilang dating PNP chief.
Nagpasya umano si Azurin na bumalik na lamang sa Pilipinas matapos ang masaklap na karanasan.
