Nais ng Philippine Football Federation na magkaroon ng mas maraming liga para sa local football sa bansa kung saan magsisilbi itong plataporma para mas makadiskubre nga mga potensyal na players sa hinaharap.
Ito ang ibinahagi ni PFF head of competition Coco Torre, kung saan layunin ng naturang grupo ang mas makapukaw ng interest, lalo na sa mga kababaihang players na maglaro ng football at magkaroon ng mas malalim na pool ng players .
Sa kasalukuyan, mayroong PFF Women’s League at PFF Women’s Cup, na maituturing na mga prestihiyosong liga na ginawa para sa mga women football players.
Mayroong 10 club teams ang kasali sa liga kabilang ang Kaya-Iloilo FC at Stallion Laguna FC gayundin ang La Salle University and University of Santo Tomas competing.
Ipinaliwanag rin ni Torre ang planong pagpapalaki ng Women’s Cup, gaya ng ginagawa sa Copa Paulino Alcantara, ang national men’s football cup competition na pinapayagang maglaro ang bawat football player professional man o amateur players.
“We currently only have 10 teams but I hope we expand in the future. Just like in the Copa, the plan for the Women’s Cup is to expand to have more teams join,” ang sabi ni Torre, na siya ring commissioner ng Philippine Football League.
“For me, there’s more work to be done. The Filipinas joining the World Cup would serve as a springboard but it’s not going to be easy.”
